Paints and coatings

Worldwide concern about volatile organic emissions (VOCs) from coatings manufacture and application have created incentives for low-solvent and water based products.

Even if you’re not selling into countries or regions that have imposed emissions restrictions, the pressure to offer low-VOC coatings is influencing the market at large .

Are you reformulating your paints, inks, or other coating materials to reduce emissions? Enter the volatiles and solids content of your ingredients in the Substances section of SDScribe™. The program will automatically calculate the actual and regulatory VOCs as you vary formulations in the Batches section.*

SDScribe™ includes EPA Safer Choice ingredients in its chemical dictionary, making it easier to check potential product reformulations for enhanced safety and/or reduced environmental impact. A Suggestion report enables you to view the effect of changing ingredients or ingredient concentrations on the GHS hazard classifications of the product as a whole. Click a button and the report adds the appropriate classifications, statements, and pictograms onto the SDS.

SDScribe™ can generate an SDS in either UN or EU-ECHA format from the same data. There are also separate, paired fields to hold the same information in a non-English language. With the optional non-English section titles, the program can generate SDSs in two languages from the same SDS record. These features make it easier for you to distribute worldwide.

Safety data sheet templates

To get you going quickly, SDScribe™ includes an SDS template for paint. There are also templates for products based on characteristics, like corrosive liquids, irritant solids, and water reactive metals.

Inventory and Production Manager

With the optional Inventory and Production Manager, you can maintain stock levels of ingredients, parts, and finished product; print batch sheets for the production floor and labels for bottles; log batch size, QC analyses, photos and notes; calculate costs; and view calculated VOCs.

More about the Inventory and Production Manager

* Saving batch records requires an optional license for the Production and Inventory Manager. Even without the license, however, you can still create a batch record and vary the ingredients to view the effect on volatiles.
