SDScribe™ 2019 update (v.5.10)

(Originally posted Mar 5, 2020)

We have another update to SDScribe™ 2019, v.5.10 (the previous release was v.5.09). This is a free update for SDScribe™ 2019 customers.

This update includes revisions in the SDS, Substances, and Batches, and Tracking sections, plus some general features. Among the changes:

Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)

  • There was an issue with the “recent searches” button on the browse list (the “circle arrow” at top left) not working after the user enlarges the list by dragging the lower window border down. (This issue also applied to the Substances browse list.)

Substances

  • From time to time, we edit existing Substance records and add new ones to the “starter” chemical library. An import is available that incorporates revisions made to the chemical library from late September 2019 through January of this year. For existing users, the program offers to run the import on start-up.

  • The Substances browse list has a feature which allows you to right-click on a Substance record, and select “Create batch from this Substance” from the menu. The process now calculates totals for the ingredients in the new batch.

  • The chemical library (Substances section) of the v.5.10 starter data includes some additional information concerning restricted and prohibited cosmetic ingredients under the US Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The information appears as additional entries under the Regulatory tab of the Substance entry form.

  • If you are a Canadian customer, we made a few corrections to the Domestic Substances List (DSL) and Non-Domestic Substance List (NDSL) imports. If you haven’t imported these lists before, the program will offer to import them on start-up.

  • If you have already imported the DSL and/or NDSL, you can incorporate the updates by importing the revised lists manually: File (menu) -> Imports-exports and utilities -> Imports -> “Canada DSL or NDSL substances”. The program will prompt you for a file location on disk. The files are normally located at:

    • C:\Hazard_Solutions\Database\Resources\Imports\

      …and are named:

      • CA_DomestSubsList_UTF8_20200228.csv

      • CA_NonDomestSubsList_UTF8_20200229.csv
