SDScribe™ 2025 Update (11.18)

We’ve released a minor update. It is free for licensed SDScribe™ 2025 users, and you can either update the program when reminded (on program startup), or from our existing customers page.

Among the changes:

  • The program now includes UN GHS revision 11 as an option, on the “2 Hazards” tab of the SDS entry form. This is the latest release of the UN GHS.

  • Although the previous release of SDScribe™ 2025 included UN GHS revision 10, there were some missing conversion capabilities between GHS 10 and the other GHS revisions. These have been added.

  • There is a new feature, Table accents, which appears as a check box on the “Other options” tab of the “SDS generation options…” dialog. When you check this feature, if you have also specified a table format for any of SDS sections 3, 9, and/or 15, the program will use a custom background color for table borders, titles, and footnotes. (You must have also checked the “Use colors” box on the same line of the options dialog.)

  • The “GHS-DOT landscape” label revisions:

    • The company/product logo is now located just to the left of the company name and address, at the top of the label.

    • The shipping information no longer includes tab characters, which in some cases did not align the content adquately.

    • The HMIS and NFPA graphics are now located in adjacent, invisible table cells. You can adjust the spacing between them by dragging an invisible cell boundary that is located between them: In the word processing area, move your mouse horizontally between the two graphics until the cursor becomes a two-sided arrow. Then drag left or right.

    • The optional DOT placards that you select at the top of the SDS entry form (above the word processing area) are now further up on the generated label, next to the HMIS and NFPA graphics.

  • New “GHS-DOT landscape-2” label. This label is similar to the updated “GHS-DOT landscape” label, except:

    • The product name is at the top, and the company information is near the bottom of the label.

    • Emergency contact information is included in bold red text, just above the company information.

    • If the company logo is large or proportionally more horizontal than vertical, the program will attempt to reduce the text width when it generates the label. However, you can still control logo size using the “Logo scaling” option (20-200 percent), on the label options dialog prior to label generation. You can also drag the invisible cell boundary between them, as described for the “GHS-DOT landscape” label, above.

  • New and updated imports. SDScribe™ should offer to import these items when you start up the updated program for the first time. However, you can also import them manually, from File (menu) -> Imports-exports and utilities -> Review imports… (button).

    • Canadian Domestic Substances List (DSL) (update).

    • Canadian Non-Domestic Substances List (NDSL) (update).

    • EU Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), Candidate list (update-new format).

    • EU Cosmetics (COSING), restricted substances (update-new format).

    • EU Cosmetics (COSING), prohibited substances (update-new format).

    • EU Cosmetics (COSING), allowed colorants (update-new format).

    • EU Cosmetics (COSING), allowed preservatives (update-new format).

    • EU Cosmetics (COSING), allowed UV filters (update-new format).

    • Polish phrase translations (update).

  • Added the ability to create up to ten duplicate SDSs or templates at one time, using either the “Duplicate” button or a right-click action on the SDS browse list. This feature may be useful if you are creating the same SDS in multiple languages, as you can create a duplicate for each non-English SDS you intend to create. If you later change the English content of the original SDS, you can then copy it to the duplicates using the same button, by choosing the item, “Copy English to other SDSs”.

  • Added a “Duplicate” button and a “Duplicate this record” right-click action, on the Supplier browse list.

  • Added a “List all linked Substances” right-click action, on the Component table, tab “3 Composition” of the SDS entry form.

  • Made minor adjustments to the appearance of certain buttons, drop-down lists, and table column headers. These graphic elements changed size somewhat with the introduction of the new database engine last July.

  • Bug fixes.
